TOWN HALL – THE PUBLIC IS INVITED
Please join us for a Voting & Elections Town Hall hosted by State Senator Kevin Hertel. Panelists include: Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, State Representative Veronica Paiz, Grosse Pointe Woods City Clerk, Paul Antolin, and Vice President of Voter Services at the Michigan League of Women Voters, Judy Florian.

LWVGP PROGRAM – THE PUBLIC IS INVITED
Saddle up for what looks to be an extraordinary political year by joining two Michigan political insiders for a frank discussion about what lies ahead.
Former Democratic Party chair Mark Brewer and former Republican Party executive director Jeff Timmer, who host the weekly podcast, A Republic, If You Can Keep It, will bring their insights and analysis for a lively discussion.

Brewer and Timmer host the weekly podcast, “A Republic, If You Can Keep It,” which provides a steady diet of analysis about politics from two men who know it inside and out. They’ll explore current political topics, including what happens if one of the two presidential nominees is unable to run or unable to serve and what events could signal threats to American democracy.
JEFF TIMMER has spent 30 years in the trenches of Michigan and national politics as a political, public affairs, and communications strategist. He has advised and directed hundreds of legislative, congressional, statewide political and ballot issue campaigns. He was an advisor to Ohio Governor John Kasich’s 2016 presidential campaign. Timmer is a leading redistricting expert and has been an advisor to Speakers of the Michigan House, Michigan Senate Majority Leaders, the Michigan House and Senate Republican campaign committees, and the Michigan Republican Party. He is also cofounder of Republicans and Independents for Biden, and a senior advisor to the Lincoln Project.
MARK BREWER served for 18 years as chair or executive chair of the Michigan Democratic Party and as a member of the Democratic National Committee. He’s been a delegate to five Democratic National Conventions. He has been involved in a wide variety of election cases since the 1980s including county, legislative and congressional redistricting, presidential primaries/caucuses, recalls, recounts, ballot access, voter protection on Election Day and the protection of the right to vote a straight party ticket. Brewer’s ballot question work ranges from city to county to statewide on topics from the minimum wage, earned sick leave and community benefits to straight party voting, tax reform, redistricting, campaign finance and ethics reform, and county charter government.
